Over 11,000 take part in Alva's job fair

143 firms take part; 1,668 students get jobs on Day 1

“Future of a person lies in one’s own hands. Don’t wait for others help, instead help yourself,” he added.

UAE Exchange COO (Global Operations) Y Sudhir Kumar Shetty said that the nation is progressing. Earlier one had to search for employment and now jobs are searching for bright students, he said.

1668 recruited

The three-day campus drive that kicked off on Saturday had 1,668 students recruited in different companies on the very first day. The drive had around 8,000 female candidates and 3,000 male candidate registrations. “The drive is offering more than 4,000 job opportunities from the 143 companies that have come for recruitment. More companies will participate in the forthcoming days,” said Alva’s Educational Institution Chairman Dr Mohan Alva.

Students from Bangalore, Bagalkot, Bellary and other districts of the State participated in the drive. Various sectors such as banking, medical, engineering, BPO, KPO, IT, insurance, automobiles and others had jobs on offer.

Famous companies like MPhasis, UAE Exchange, Infosys, Kotak Mahindra, MCF, IBM and several others participated in the drive. “This job fair is an excellent opportunity as we can attend multiple interviews in the same campus. If I get a good job I will definitely join,” says Elston from Mangalore Institute of Technology. Another candidate Shomitha says that the drive provides an excellent experience on how to face an interview.
