Kumaraswamy's Gandhi quip draws flak

Last Updated 11 April 2011, 17:36 IST

Urban Development Minister Suresh Kumar said Kumaraswamy’s statement was like giving licence to corruption. “I never expected such a statement from a former chief minister; it is like opposing what Anna Hazare has been fighting for. I think Kumaraswamy should withdraw his statements,” he said.

KPCC President G Parameshwara said Mahatma Gandhi being a great personality, any person dishonouring him means dishonouring himself.

“I don’t know under what circumstances he made the statement. But If he has said something disrespectful, it is wrong,” he said.

In Shimoga BJP State convener and Rajya Sabha member Ayanur Manjunath has urged him to apologise to the nation.

Kumaraswamy’s remark reflects his immaturity, said Manjunath.
