'Vacancies in Dept of Fire services to be filled up soon'

Speaking after inaugurating a new fire station built at a cost of `  2.10 lakh here on Sunday, he said all police and fire stations would be modernised on priority. All the vacant posts would be filled up on priority. It was necessary to prevent fire mishaps across the State.

He said 170 taluks out of the total 176 taluks have fire stations and many of them were functioning in rented building. The department was committed to provide permanent buildings for all the fire stations. Steps have been taken to construct quarters for the staff members of the department. Funds would be released soon to construct permanent buildings in Hunsur, Periyapatna and Nanjangud soon.

Process has started to set up a police out post at Mullur in H D Kote taluk, he said.
MLA Chikkanna who presided, thanked the Government for setting up the fire station in the taluk.
