'Don't shun Govt schools; they created today's India'

In a gesture that could change the fate of students in this government school for better, MLC Sandesh Nagaraj donated five computers by Mysore City Corporation under special allocation of funds to Bifurcated Government High School of Maharajas.

In an event that was held on Tuesday, journalist Rajashekhar Koti, former Deputy Mayor Sharadamma and others took part.

Excellent performance

In a revelation of sorts, the guests lauded the school which has been producing students who excel with top marks -- that range between 97 and 99 in various subjects.

About 150 students have done very well in SSLC classes since the last few years.

The testimony of teachers’ love for their students is in the fact that Vice Principal Shivakumaraswamy has been engaging free tuition classes for students of SSLC since last one month. He even hosted free lunch for them on Tuesday.

Addressing the gathering, Rajashekhar Koti said people should not ignore government schools since most of our leaders today, have come from the very schools.

Never look down

“Our former President Dr Abdul Kalam also came from one such schools, and scaled the heights to occupy the most respected position in the country. Never look down upon these schools,” he advised. Deputy Commissioner of Police Dr Basavaraja Malagatti, journalist Ravindra Bhat, youth leader Praveen Kumar, N Neelakantha and others were present. Chief Minister Medal recepient Inspector Subbanna was felicitated on the occasion.
