Injured big cat dies in Bandipur Park

The 12-year-old tiger was suspected to have injured its left limb during a fight with another big cat or a wild boar. The forest department officials tried to treat the animal by luring it with some sheep meat laced with antibiotics, but to no avail.

On Wednesday morning, the patrolling forest staff spotted the tiger at Tavalannere and waited for a long time for it to move. However, when there was no movement, they went at the spot only to see it dead.

Project Tiger Director B G Hosmath and Bandipur Deputy Conservator of Forests, Dr K T Hanumanthappa, visited the spot.
