An ordinary summer

Last Updated 14 April 2011, 11:24 IST

Finally the season has come, the greatest
Surprisingly it is also the hottest
But a glass of lemonade will do the trick
And a cool shower makes you smile
Lazing around, a pleasant day
The sun’s always shining bright and gay
Teenagers rush to the malls
Adults plan trips to travel the world
Students have fun at summer camp
The earth is rarely ever damp
Tents are set up away from the foliage
Crickets chirp even in the sultry night
The pools in the city are overflowing
Babies splash around, mothers beaming
Fathers still at work glad to be away
In the quiet of their offices, no chaos
Then it all passes and schoolbags come out
Parents dragging out of bed wanting to shout
Another two months of bliss has gone by
Something we all yearn for all through the year
Summer.
