Housing and District In-charge Minister V Somanna expressed his unhappiness over the remarks made by former MLA of Arkalgud, A T Ramaswamy on chief executive officer of ZP, S T Anjankumar and other officials.

Addressing a news conference, Somanna condemned the bike rally held by Ramaswamy from Arkalgud to Hassan and subsequent laying siege to ZP office on Wednesday alleging involvement Anjankumar in the irregularities in Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MNREGS).

“The former MLA should have solved this problem by collecting information from the officers concerned instead of launching protest. Disrupting the office work was not good for the ex-MLA. It is high time that Ramaswamy stopped such gimmicks to gain political mileage and also to settle scores. Blaming officials is not good”, he said.

Earlier, a team of officials led by Deputy Commissioner Naveen Raj Singh and Anjankumar submitted a complaint to Sommana regarding the derogatory words used by Ramaswamy.

The officers also threatened to boycott works if Ramaswamy continue to make such comments.

Somanna flayed officials for not providing information about the progress of developmental works in the district. He warned of action on officials who misuse his name.

On the indefinite stir by retrenched employees of HIMS, the minister promised to take suitable action in this regard soon.

On former prime minister H D Deve Gowda’s plan to hold a protest against neglecting the district, Somanna asked Deve Gowda to give him a list of works that needs immediate attention. “I did not have any right to oppose protest by former PM since he got high regards on the latter. I will meet him at his residence and find solutions to problems”. He said the State Government had released `  25 crore for road works and also for the renovation of Hasanamba temple.
