367 acre land earmarked for housing schemes:DC

He said all the measures have been taken to ensure speedy implementation of the government housing schemes.

Out of 367 acre of land, 285 acre land has been identified in various gram panchayat limits and the process of handing over the land to the gram panchayats is under progress, said an official release from the Deputy Commissioner.

The release said measures have been taken to reach out the benefits of various government schemes to those coming under BPL category. About 41 acre land had been reserved in Sulkeri Gram Panchayat in Belthangady taluk for various purpose. Similarly, about 190 acre of land has been earmarked in Sulkeri GP for the tribals.

In Bantwal taluk, the reserved 17 acre land has been handed over to the Town Municipal Council. In Moodbidri, about 7.5 acre land has already been reserved to be given to the siteless.

 About 3.5 acre land will also be identified for the poor. The Mulki Town Panchayat has been asked to acquire 5.5 acre land, about 2 acre in Puttur, 8 acre in Sullia will be set aside. Six acre in Mangalore taluk has been set aside and measures will be taken to reserve another 26 acre land in the next phase, the release said.
