Hampi deities get gold worth Rs 46 lakh

At a religious function held on Friday where homa and havan were performed by Ranganagowda and Gaviappa couples, they  offered gold crown and ornaments to the Goddesses.

The seer of Vidyaranya peetha Vidyaranya Bharathi offered the ornaments decorated with gold on their behalf.

The ornaments weighing about 2.5 kg is worth Rs 46 lakh. This is the highest such offering after the rule of Sri Krishnadevarya, said the seer.

“We had taken a vow many years ago and during this jathra mahotsav we have offered our service,” said former legislator Gaviappa.

Former legislator Ratan Singh, zilla panchayat member Annadana Reddy, taluk panchayat member Kori Fakirappa, leaders K M Halappa, L Siddana Gowda and G K Hanumanthappa Badavali were present.
