Speaking to media persons in the backdrop of CM’s visit to the district on Saturday, Kottari alleged the opposition party members for formulating a negative public opinion in the farmers against the government. The BJP led State government is in favour of the farmers.

There is no confusion regarding the reclamation of ‘Kumki’ and ‘Baane’ land. At the moment, the government is not in a position to bring the ‘Kumki’ land under Akrama Sakrama due to the Supreme Court’s stay order, he said. Meanwhile, he informed that when the BJP leaders brought ‘Kumki’ issue to the notice of the Chief Minister during his recent visit to the district, the CM directed the Deputy Commissioner to stop Kumki land survey.

The election for three Agriculture Produce Marketing Committee (APMC) centers will be held on April 24. “We hope that the BJP candidates will hold the power in all the three centers, i.e., Belthangady, Mangalore and Bantwal centers,” Kottari said.

MLA Yogish Bhat informed that the efforts are on to develop the district’s government hospitals, schools and colleges with the help of the private sector. With the launch of Regional Advanced Paediatric Care Centre, the infant mortality rate has reduced drastically in the district. If the infant mortality rate is 60:1000 in the State, it is 10:1000 in the district, he said.
