Woes pour in before minister

The meet was presided over by District-in-Charge Minister S Suresh Kumar.

The local residents started off with the waste disposal issue and urged the Minister to hold a visit to the waste disposal plant. “The roads have not been repaired, there are no street lights, the lakes, which add to the beauty of the city have been neglected. With so many problems, the people too have put on an attitude of maintaining silence,” said one of the residents.

Rathnagiribore extension resident Srihari talking about the problems confronted by the residents of the extension said that the drainages are in a sorry state.

“There are heaps of plastic all over the place. The waste disposal system is inefficient. Drinking water is supplied to the extension once a week,” he said. Jaya Karnataka President Anil Kumar said that the IG Road extension work is of poor quality.

G V Chudanath Iyyer drew attention to the serious fact that Yagachi river, which is the main source of drinking water is being polluted due to release of effluent. “Please save us from this polluted water,” he urged.

BSP District President K T Radhakrishna said that patients are facing lot of inconvenience because there is no proper scanning facility in Mallegowda private hospital. He also urged the authorities to take steps to build houses for SC/STs.

DSS District unit President Doddaiah urged the authorities to clear encroachment of park land.

Meanwhile, DSS District Convener K Kumar said that the construction material provided for construction of Ambedkar Bhavan are of poor quality. Hence the guilty must be identified and punished.

Talking about Yagachi Drinking water project, Town Municipal Council Member Sridhar Ural said that it has become something like a ‘white elephant’ for the local governing body.
