Exam fear snuffs out boy's life

Jayaprakash, a Class IX student of KNES School and resident of Anandpur B Cross, was depressed after his teachers told him that his annual exam result was being withheld and asked to see his father.

His father Shivasheshan went to the school, to be told by the teachers that Jayaprakash needed to work harder in studies, and that they were nevertheless promoting him to the next class.

Unaware of the happenings at the school, Jayaprakash who had returned home, feared the worst and hanged himself from a ceiling fan.

Shivasheshan returned home in the afternoon to find his son dead, said the JB Nagar police.

Two end life

Manjula (20), who was married two months ago to Lakshman from Tamil Nadu, ended life allegedly due to dowry harassment in Madiwala.

Her mother Kumaramma, in her complaint said that Lakshman and his parents used to harass her for dowry. The police have arrested him and the parents. 

In another incident, Muniraju (40) from Tamil Nadu was found lying on Hosur Road. He was shifted to the Sanjay Gandhi Hospital where the doctors said he had consumed a poisonous substance. He failed to respond to treatment and died, said the police.

Corals recovered

CID Forest Cell police arrested Meer Vilay Hussein (33) from Richmond Town and seized 234 corals worth Rs 2.50 lakh. The owner of V M Gems and Jewellers on MG Road used to sell the corals illegally, said the police.
