CM says no to general transfer

Ministers told to hold review meets

The State government has resolved to put a full stop to general transfer of officials, which has drawn criticism from Opposition parties.

Chief Minister Yeddyurappa has told his cabinet colleagues, it is learnt, during the Cabinet meeting on Friday that sufficient transfers have been effected last year and there is no need to continue it this year. Besides bringing bad name to the Government, general transfers will affect the administration, the CM learnt to have said.

He also directed all his colleagues to maintain transparency in transferring teachers.

Visit Vidhana Soudha

Sources said the CM asked the ministers to attend to their departmental works and hold review meetings with officials at Vidhana Soudha at least three days a week.

There is a complaint that some ministers do not come to Vidhana Soudha at all, the CM told the cabinet.

The Chief Minister and his ministers discussed at length about the possible outcome of Lok Sabha elections in the State. Most of the ministers are learnt to have assured the CM that the BJP will win 20 to 23 seats, the sources said.

But Minister Shobha Karandlaje, who is in-charge of Mysore district, is learnt to have expressed doubts over winning of the party’s nominee in Mysore. She, however, said the party will win Chamarajnagar seat, it is said.

The party candidate from Gulbarga and Animal Husbandry Minister Revu Nayak Belamagi learnt to have complained that many BJP leaders in the district did not work for the party in the elections.

The party winning the Bidar seat is also doubtful, he further said.

The CM learnt to have said that the party has less chances of winning Hassan, Mandya, Bangalore rural seats.
