"Sonu has been shifted to Chattrapati Shahuji Maharaj Medical University this morning for an artificial limb as the facility is not available here and higher treatment," Chief Medical Superintendent of district hospital Vijay Yadav said.

Sonu was undergoing treatment at Bareilly district hospital from April 12 and her condition is stable, he said. Sonu, a national-level volleyball player of Uttar Pradesh, was pushed out of the Padmavat Express in Bareilly on April 11 night by three men trying to snatch her gold chain. The 23-year-old athlete lost her left leg in the incident.

The incident took place between Chenati and Bareilly railway stations when Arunima was travelling to Gautam Buddha Nagar to appear in a CISF recruitment examination.

The police had lodged an FIR under section 307 (attempt to murder) and 393 (attempt to loot) against unidentified youths in this connection.
