CM lays foundation stone for hospital building

The CM also laid foundation for the school building of SVS higher primary school at Bantwal. The building will come up at the cost of Rs 1.5 crore.

The new hospital building will come up in 1.50 lakh square feet. An entrepreneur from Andhra Pradesh Raghava Naidu has come forward to upgrade the hospital. The donation of Rs 18 crore has come through K R Keerthi Foundation.

The Foundation has agreed to complete the work within a year and hand over the building to the government. The building will come up in memory of Raghavan Naidu’s only daughter late K R Keerthi. The State government has already agreed to name the building after K R Keerthi.

The school building will come up in 15,000 square foot. The school is nearly 128 years old and was in dilapidated condition.

Speaking on the occasion, Yeddyurappa said the government is committed to provide good health care to the people. The government will provide all the needed facility to the new building which will come up within a year.

In his presidential speech, Deputy Speaker Yogish Bhat said owing to the quality health service, the infant mortality rate could be reduced in Dakshina Kannada in particular and the state in general. Upgradation of the government hospital helped in saving the lives of several children in Dakshina Kannada.

The government provides a sum of Rs 2.5 crore towards the maintenance of Regional Advanced Paediatric Centre which is situated adjacent to the Wenlock Hospital. The new building of the Lady Goschen Hospital will be a super speciality building.

He urged the State government to provide Rs 10 crore to provide equipment to the building.

Donor Raghava Naidu and his wife were felicitated on the occasion.
