Classic: Poster prints from Local Time.Poster prints 

Goethe-Institut/Max Mueller Bhavan is presenting 'Ortszeit / Local Time'– an exhibition of poster prints of the works of the German photographer Stefan Koppelkamm, in which he explores and documents the changes in parts of Germany in the course of an eventful decade. Young impression

Mahua -The Art Gallery, in collaboration with the H K Kejriwal Foundation, is
presenting Young Artists Award 2008 to four young artists from Shantiniketan, Baroda, Kerala and Bangalore. The exhibition of their works will be on at the gallery till July 31. The venue is 344/8, 1st Floor, (above Vijaya Bank), IV Main Road, Sadashivanagar.

‘Paper Plane’

 Olive Beach is presenting the first MedMosaic, a new series of evenings of cutting edge design to bring together many artistic sensibilities in diverse interpretations. Paper Plane will showcase Shivaram Narayanan’s origami works, Sharwari Tilloo’s papier mache sculptures, Abhimanyu Nohwar’s paper lighting installations and Shankar Chandra’s paper sculptures and photographs on July 31 and August 1.

Is it all Bengal after all?, an exhibition of paintings will be held in the City till July 31. The timing is from11 am to 7 pm.

Work on Mother

A painting exhibition on Mother Teresa will be held at the Renaissance Gallery till July 25. The artist is Ritu Singh.

‘In Focus’

Crimson - The Art Resource is holding an exhibition titled In Focus: Contemporary Indian Photography, showcasing works by six art-photographers Atul Bhalla, Gigi Scaria, Preeti Sood, Rachel Immanuel, Shankar Natarajan and Vivek Vilasini. The show will be on till July 25.


An art show comprising paintings and drawings by Renuka Kesaramadu, Rupa Mahesh, Nirmala Kumari, Geeta Kekobad, will be held on July 27 at the Renaissance Gallery.


‘Celebrity recital’

The Bangalore School of Music will present a Celebrity Recital Concert, featuring the talented and well-known artistes Ladislav Brozman (Switzerland) on violin and Riccardo Carlotto (Pushkar-Italy) on piano. The event will be held on July 31, 7.30 pm at the Alliance Francaise.

Rock festival

Rockers: The members of Prometheus.Reliance TimeOut is presenting yet another performance by Bangalore-based musical band Prometheus at the ongoing Reliance TimeOut Rock Festival 2009 at its Cunningham Road outlet. The rock band consists of Shekhar (rhythm, leads and vocals), Sanjit (keyboards and vocals), Ujay (bass and rhythm) and Sagar (drums and backing vocals). On ‘Bourbon Street’

Bourbon Street is a fresh new jam band featuring Chester (guitar), Fidel (bass, vocals), Bharath (keyboards), Sudhakar ( Drums), Jerome (vocals, harmonica), Sudhakar (drums, percussion), Ian (percussion). Their influences include Herbie Hancock, Phish, Steely Dan and Tower of Power. They will be playing on July 26 at Kyra Theatre.

In memory

Baar Baar Rafi Fan Club will present an exclusive musical evening on August 1 in memory of the legend Mohammed Rafi on his 29th anniversary. The event comprises Rafi Karaoke Nite and will showcase a rare recent 70-minute documentary film on the legend produced by the Films Division.This film is specially arranged by the BBR Club. A jugalbandi musical event will be held at the J S S Auditorium, 8th Block, Jayanagar, on July 25 at 6.15 pm. The artistes are R Visweswaran, Parameshwar Hegde, Tumkur B Ravishankar, Vishwanath Nakod, Vyasamurthy Katti. The programme is organised by Chitrakoota Kalavidaru.

Classical strains

Pt Murudeshwara Gonwar's 23rd Hindustani Shastriya Sangeeth Mahotsava will be held on July 26, 4.30 pm at Panchajanya High School, 1st N block, near Rajajinagar Bus Stop,
opposite Vidyavardhaka School, Rajajinagar.

Birth centenary

Neelambari, an association of students of Sangeetha Kalarathna Vidushi Neela Ramgopal, will present a two-day music festival on July 25 and 26 to commemorate the birth centenary of legendary musician Sangita Kalanidhi G N Balasubramaniam. The concert on July 25 will be presented by Sumitra Nitin and on July 26 by Geetha Murthy. The venue is Sri Rama Lalitha Kala Mandira, Banashankari and the programme will commence at 5.30 pm.


SGBS Trust is celebrating the 32nd year of Gokulashtami celebrations from July 25 to August 16 at the Unnati Centre, Temple Road, NGEF Layout, Sadanandanagar. Enrty is free.

Lights on

Version One Dot Oh! (VODO) premieres its latest production Six Degrees of Separation on July 24 and 25 at Alliance Francaise de Bangalore and on July 28, 29 and 30 at Ranga Shankara.


Ranga Shankara brings yet another new production this month, called ‘Antaheen’. The play is in Hindi and is based on Jean-Paul Sartre's famous play, In Camera/ Huis Clos. It is being directed by Manav Kaul. The play premieres on July 24, 7.30 pm at the Ranga Shankara and will run till July 26. There will be two shows on July 26 (at 3.30 pm and 7.30 pm).

‘Michael Angel oh!’

Script Peoples Theatre will present its annual theatre production — Michael Angel oh!,  a post-modern interpretation of human experience. The play, written by Umesh P N and directed by Sibu Vaz from Script Peoples Theatre, will be staged at Christ University Auditorium on July 25, 7 pm.

Tribute to Jacko

Immortal: Michael JacksonBangaloreans from all walks of life, with a shared respect and love for the King of Pop Michael Jackson and his music, will pay tribute to the legend. The event will be hosted over the weekend of July 25 and 26, and will kick off on Saturday at 7 pm. The venue for the tribute show, which is the first large scale public tribute to the legendary pop star in India, is Club Cabana.

‘Guru Poornima’

Smrithi will hold its Guru Poornima celebrations on July 26 at Bhoomika, Auditorium, 17th Cross, Malleswaram, by the students of Lalith J  Rao. The morning session will be from 9.30 am and the evening session from 5.30 pm onwards.

‘Fugitive Historians’

Penguin Books and Ranga Shankara are celebrating the publication of Fugitive Historians by Githa Hariharan on July 26, 11 am at the Ranga Shankara. There will be an introduction by Lakshmi Krishnamurthy followed by readings from her work by the author and interaction with the audience.
