No potable water for jetting machines

Last Updated 18 April 2011, 19:36 IST

Now, with a new circular issued by BWSSB chairman P B Ramamurthy, potable water cannot be wasted for cleaning sewers.

In the circular, the chairman has said that the Board should take the lead in conserving water and one such initiative would be using treated tertiary water in the jetting machines instead of potable water, which will be launched at the Cubbon Park and the Lalbagh tertiary treatment plants.

The BWSSB has four tertiary treatment plants at the Vrishabhavathi Valley, Yelahanka, Cubbon Park and Lalbagh. Tertiary treated water available at these plants will be used by 32 jetting machines owned by the Board, he said.
