'DC yet to receive word from reps of sunken ship'

Speaking to Deccan Herald, Deputy Commissioner-in-Charge Prabhakar Sharma said that he has not received any information in writing from the representatives of the sunken ship M V Asian Forest.

However, the representatives have orally assured to place a marker and arrange a boat near the sunken ship by Friday noon so that other vessels do not run over the sunken ship.

Meanwhile, Sharma also said that he has been called by Director General - Shipping to attend a meeting in Mumbai on July 27 to discuss the issue.

It may be recalled that the ship, Asian Forest, which sailed out from New Mangalore Port carrying 13,600 MT of iron ore fines to Zhavgjiagang in China listed on July 17 and later sank on July 18.

However, all the 18 members were rescued.
