Work on Datta peeta, sanctuary to be delayed

Contractors not showing interest despite completion of tender process

There are possibilities of the work getting delayed in the district. The government has earmarked funds for the development of Bababudangiri Inam Dattatreya peeta, Kemmannugundi Krishnarajendra sanctuary, K M Road, Magundi river rafting, Kottigehara canteen. A sum of Rs 12 crore has been sanctioned for the development of Dattatreya peeta. However, no contractor has come forward to carry on the work. As the monsoon is fast approaching, the work on the cave can not be completed. The government had decided to renovate Kemmannugundi Krishnarajendra sanctuary at the cost of Rs 14 crore.

However, the work is yet to commence. The government had earmarked Rs 2.50 crore for the development of K M Road from tank area to Syndicate Bank. However, no contractor has come forward to carry out the work.

The tourism department had released Rs one crore for the construction of a canteen at Kottigehara, Rs 50 lakh for starting river rafting at Magundi. However, the work is yet to be started.  

Cave repair

The repair of Sri Guru Dattatreya Bababudanswamy cave may not be completed this year as well, says sources in Muzrai department.

A proposal of Rs 40 lakh was sent to the government for repairing the cave. However, the government has not yet taken any decision on the proposal. As rainy season will commence within two months, the work on the cave may not be completed even during next year’s Datta Jayanthi and Uroos. The Chief Minister has okayed the proposal on repairing the cave and hassent to finance department, the sources added.
