Madhu, Shivakumar, Raju, Azam and Nagendra, a naxal, have made good their escape by breaking the rod of the cell in which they were lodged. They have managed to open the main door of the jail with the key from the sentry, who was fast asleep.

The jailbreak came to notice when two PCs escorted an accused to the jail. Police sources said the fugitives have escaped by stealing bikes parked in front of a house in Basavanahalli and Bandrehalli.

The inmates, during interrogation have reportedly informed that relatives of Madhu, who came to jail on 21 July, had treated the jail staff to non-vegetarian meals.
