Stop faith healing, directs BSY

Speaking to reporters, he said the government will neither accept such superstitions nor allow them to be practiced.

More than 100 children suffering from polio were partially buried by their parents at the time of solar eclipse on Wednesday, under the belief that their disease will be cured.

But Gulbarga north MLA Qamarul Islam had a different take on the issue. Much to the surprise of all members in the Legislative Assembly, he said there are several instances wherein children suffering from polio had been cured after being inside the earth during eclipse. “The incident of partially burying children is nothing new. People are following it for the last several decades. Not only in Gulbarga, people in some place of Pakistan too follow it,” he stated.

The government, he further said, should find out how such children get cured.

To this, Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister S Suresh Kumar sought to know from Islam whether he opposes such acts or defends it. But Qamarul Islam did not reply.
