He is one among the gen-y heroes of Sandalwood, who have ‘filmy’ connection in the blood. Yet, he wants to create a niche of his own, devoutly treading on the footprints of his elders.

Meet Chiranjeevi Sarja, a nephew of popular actor in both Kannada and Tamil Arjun Sarja. Just four films old (from launch pad Vaayuputra, Gandede, Chiru and recently released Dandam Dashagunam),  Chiru as Chiranjeevi Sarja is fondly called, is a big time sucker of coffee. “Be it a star hotel or road side petty shop, if the coffee smells good, I would love to taste it”, Chiru told City Herald.

In Mysore, where he has a large number of relatives, he hangs out on the ‘happening’ Kalidasa Road. This is where, according to him, the best coffee is served in Mysore.
When the talk resumes to his latest release, he admits that he was apprehensive of giving his 100 per cent to the cop’s role he has enacted.

The film in original ‘Khaka Khaka’ in Tamil had ace actor Suriya in the lead. This left Chiru worried if he can ever fit the bill, the way Suriya did.

Dream role

Ask him about the dream role, Chiru says role itself has less to do, and it’s the passion with which one involves himself in performing it that makes all the difference.

‘Have you watched thespian Dr Rajkumar in Bhakta Prahallada?’ Chiru asks this reporter. Without even waiting for an answer, he goes on and on about how brilliantly it was performed, and which is the precise reason why the character transcends further from being a mere role.

Being a third generation actor (his grandfather Shaktiprasad was a famous villain) Chiru says the onus of carrying on the legacy is on him now.

He is also interested in exploring Amba Vilas Palace of Mysore. According to him, he doesn’t have exact count of visiting the architectural wonder.

More visits

“Recently I had visited the palace, but amid difficulty, since we can’t bargain for much privacy irrespective of whether you are on a holiday or at work”, Chiru said. Whenever you go around inside, you will discover new things, making the visit all worthy everytime.
On his forthcoming projects in hand, he is sharing space with actor Sudeep in the latter’s next ‘Varadanayaka’ and another directed by M K Sharma, younger brother of ‘Dialogue King’ Saikumar.

Let’s wish Chiru all the best.
