According to police sources here, the GRP team probing the incident has found that the Padmavat Express train by which Sonu was reportedly travelling on the night of the incident, had departed from Lucknow at 9:46 pm on April 11 while the ticket recovered from her possession, had been bought from Lucknow station at 2301 hours. Sources also claim that Sonu, in her statement, had claimed that she had played at Inter-University Volleyball tournament at Bilaspur in Chattisgarh in 2002 but the records at her home district of Ambedkar Nagar showed that she was a student of intermediate there till 2003.

After the incident, additional DG , railway, A K Jain had said that it was yet to be ascertained if Sonu was thrown out of the compartment or she fell accidentally on the tracks.
