Delay in holding meeting irks members

Addressing a news conference here , she said local leaders, despite constituting standing panels and prepare plans to take up development works involving various departments, were buying time by putting blame on the government.

ZP member election was held on February 17 and later a meeting was held on February 28 which lasted for only 10 minutes. Though the power of constituting the standing panel had been given to the president, no step has been initiated to select members. If this attitude continue it would be inevitable to stage a protest at the ZP office premises, they warned.

Lakshman said of ` 28 crore released by the government in the year 2010-11, only `  18.5 crore has been utilised. Most of the works have been given under sub-contract and there is no clue about the funds released, he added. The members also said that since the JD(S) members have majority they were behaving as per their whims and fancies. If steps are not taken immediately, a protest would be staged, he added.ZP member Amit Shetty, Belur TP member Parvathamma and others were present.
