Going for a beefy look

fit Ajay DevganEveryone has been raving about Ajay Devgan’s body of late. The actor has been sporting a beefy look for Reliance Entertainment’s Singham. Says the director of the film Rohit Shetty, “For AJ, we’ve tried to achieve the physique of a man who can bash up 20 people, if he wants. It’s not a six-pack look. Anyone can achieve that with injections and steroids. The manliness has to come hrough as he plays a tough cop who is from a village on the Maharastra-Goa border. It is a raw action film filled with hand-to-hand combat scenes,
something one rarely gets to see in movies in this day and age of high gadgetry. Ajay’s trainer Prashant Sawant is working hard with him.”

Adds Prashant, “We trained for three months. Ajay plays a very tough cop and needed to look the part by losing weight, developing more cuts on his body and appearing more lean and muscular. After training for an hour and a half, I oversaw his diet every three hours and made sure he maintained a high-protein low-carb diet. I then had him do a rigorous combination of eights and circuit super sets that incorporated all techniques including push-ups and pull-ups.”

When quizzed about the time it took for Ajay to build his physique, “It didn’t take him much time. Ajay has a great body and has always been a fitness freak. It’s not difficult for him to maintain it,” quipped the trainer.

Fans of the actor can look forward to seeing him in a completely raw and desi action hero avatar.

A luxurious bath

While recently filming in Macau, the cast of Reliance Entertainment’s ‘Double Dhamaal’ faced some serious water trouble. A particular sequence, which was shot near a port, required Arshad Warsi, Jaaved Jafery, Riteish Deshmukh, and Ashish Chowdhry to get completely drenched in water. The only problem was that the water in that particular locality was highly dense and infected. The locals too don’t go inside the water and even if they do so, they need to get vaccinated immediately. The scene requirement was such that the boys had to be shown coming out of the water.

Director Indra Kumar did not want to risk getting the actors exposed to that water. The solution — the crew arranged for a large amount of bottled mineral water!
But what began as a task to splash water over each other to prepare for the shot, slowly turned into a riot of sorts as the actors, who are very close friends in reality, got into a playful mood and began throwing water over each other.

“It was a sort of a mini Holi sans the colours,” reveals a source from the sets.  Well, if you have such a mad star cast, some Dhamaal is surely expected on the sets!

Giving a tough fight

pretty Sonakshi SinhaActor Vindu Dara Singh gave a tough fight to Dabangg actress Sonakshi Sinha in the game of Scrabble on the sets of Shirish Kunder’s upcoming film ‘Joker’. The film shoot is proving to be a lot of fun for the actors. In leisure time, they play cricket, football and Scrabble or just poke fun at each other, sources said.

Though Sonakshi is very good at the game, Vindu isn’t too bad either. Both of them give tough competition to each other. “It is always like a picnic shooting with Akshay. This time around Sonakshi was with us. She is very good at Scrabble. Whenever we play, she always wins but even she agrees with me that I give her a good fight unlike anyone on the set,” Vindu said.

Directed by Kunder, ‘Joker’ is a fantasy adventure film made in 3D format in Hindi and stars Akshay Kumar, Sonakshi, Shreyas Talpade and Minnisha Lamba in pivotal roles. The film that is being jointly produced by Kunder and Farah’s Three’s Company and Akshay Kumar’s Hari Om Entertainment Company, is slated to release in December this year.

Singing to greet

Singer Kunal Ganjawalla was in for a pleasant surprise when Shah Rukh Khan greeted him with the song Bheege Hoth at an IPL afterparty to celebrate SRK’s team’s victory. Kunal was in Kolkata for a performance and was invited to attend the victory bash by SRK that night. As soon as he entered the party, SRK greeted him with his most popular song Bheege Hoth and surprised everyone around.

SRK then introduced Kunal as his favourite singer in Bollywood to Yusuf Pathan and the other team members. “Shah Rukh bhai’s sense of humour is legendary and it is always delightful to meet him. He was in a jubilant mood after the team’s  great performance and win and he really does like my song Bheege Hoth so hearing him sing it as a greeting to me was very cool,” said Kunal.
