The four-month old firm IntoNow is a start-up that enables users to identify and share television programs with their friends.

Once the programme is identified, it is easy to share with user's friends on social networking sites such as Twitter and Facebook. It can detect TV shows or movies that are up to five years old.

The Internet major said the addition of IntoNow will enable Yahoo to provide enhanced media experiences and video programming, bolstering its social engagement across its network.

"Relying on social channels as a means for discovering content -- whether it's on a PC, mobile device, or TV -- is rapidly on the rise.

"IntoNow's technology combines the ability to check-in to what a consumer is watching, engage in conversations and find related content," Yahoo SVP (Global Product Management) Bill Shaughnessy said.
