Govt accused of misleading farmers

Addressing a news conference, he said that government had announced to provide financial succour to all the farmers, but now the government officials are extending this facility only for limited number of farmers. Earlier, the government had promised to include rich farmers under the scheme, now it had decided to provide the same to small and marginal farmers who own dry land. Government had introduced the scheme just to gain political mileage, and not with any genuine intention to help farmers  to improve their standard of living.  Of the total 1,75,000 farmers in the district, the government decided to provide aid to only 12 per cent of them under the scheme.

Alleging failure of government to supply seeds, he pointed out that agriculture, sowing and other activities had already geared up in the district due to early rains, but farmers taking to the streets demanding the shortage of seeds. This would affect the farmers and agricultural activities of the region. The Government must ensure seeds, fertilisers to ryots very urgently.       

On the delay in the distribution of Bhagyalakshmi bonds, he said that still the department concerned, had not yet handed over the bonds to 11,146 beneficiaries registered under the scheme. The government announced this scheme is just to woo women voters during elections not to help them, he charged. On membership drive  launched by State Youth Congress unit, he said the unit had decided to enroll 6000 members from each assembly segment.
