Fishermen's meet in Mangalore

Yeddyurappa to inaugurate the programme on April 29

Speaking to the media persons on Wednesday, MLA and National Fishermen Cell (NFC) Joint Convener Lalaji R Mendon informed that fishermen and fishing community leaders from across the nation including Gujarath, Maharashtra, Kerala, Karnataka, Dadra and Nagara Haveli, Diu Daman, Goa and Lakshadweep will take part in the convention convened by the National Fishermen Cell (NFC) of the BJP.

He said that Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa will inaugurate the convention on April 29 at 10.30 am. NFC National Convener Dr Prakash Malgave, Former Central Petroleum Minister Ram Nayak, District-in-Chrage Minister Krishna Palemar, Higher Education Minister Dr V S Acharya and others will be present at the inaugural function.

In the valedictory function to be held on April 30 at 12 pm, Opposition Party leader in the Parliament Sushma Swaraj will deliver the valedictory address. State BJP President K S Eshwarappa will preside over the function, while BJP National Secretary Muralidhar Rao, MP D V Sadananda Gowda, Coastal Development Authority President Nagaraj Shetty, Dakshina Kannada-Udupi Meenu Marata Mandala President Yashpal Suvarna will be the guests,
informed Mendon.

He said, several committees have been formed to manage food, accommodation and transportation facilities of the representatives who will take part in the convention.  Fishing community who form one of the largest communities in the nation have several problems which have remained unsolved. BJP has called for the convention to discuss their problems and offer permanent solutions to them. The national convention of East Coast fishermen was held in Vishakhpattan, Andhra Pradesh last month, he informed.
