Mukkodlu villagers have warned of boycotting Grama Sabhe meeting of Makkanduru Gram Panchayat on July 30, as elected representatives and officials have failed to provide basic infrastructures to the Mukkodlu village.

Addressing a press meet, Shantheyanda Uthaiah, Anchetira Manumuthappa, Nandeera Appaiah, Napanda Raghu Thimmaiah and Monnanda Mittu Poonaccha on behalf of the villagers said “Grama sabhe which were held so far did not benefit us. As officials fail to take part in Grama sabhe, we are not getting proper information on government schemes. Moreover, officials do not respond even if we visit their offices.”

Grama sabhe has not helped the residents of Mukkodlu village. The elected representatives and officials concerned should compulsorily take part in the Grama sabhe., they said and added that if the authorities concerned fail to attend, then they  will boycott the meeting immediately.

The problems of Mukkodlu have remained the same without being solved, the residents said.

“There is nobody to hear our problems. There is so much trouble in the village with regard to electricity and telephone.  Our pleas have been falling on deaf ears.  If the authorities concerned failed to repair telephones in the village, then we will return our landline sets to the department and demand deposits,” they added
Residents pointed that the work on roads connecting Soorlabbi, Hammiyala, Mutlu, Avandi, Kalooru villages have already begun under Nabard scheme. However, some have raised objections to the development of the road.

“The road work must be undertaken as per the survey and estimate. It should not be changed at any cost,” they added.

“Both Centre and State governments are showing negligence towards the development of villages coming under Western Ghat. Instead of providing facilities, government is taking away the facilities. We are supporting the demand for separate statehood to Kodagu,” they said.
