“...In the present situation, our conduct should always be above board. No one should be able to say here I am committing any wrong,” he said while inaugurating the State BJP’s new office building, Jagannath Bhavan, at Malleswaram.

He, however, made no reference to the Karnataka government or Yeddyurappa who was present on the dais along with a number of other State leaders.

“...Ours is an extraordinary party. Therefore, any small shortcoming is highlighted more than any other party’s. Other parties can loot, indulge in so many things and get away with it, but not the BJP,” he said.

Advani lashed out at the UPA government for questioning the authenticity of the WikiLeaks documents pertaining to alleged efforts by the Congress to bribe MPs to win the trust vote in 2008. “No country has so far questioned the authenticity of the documents. WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange has said it was the worst response he has received over his cables,” he said. The entire country was aware of the fact that every minister in the UPA government and every Congress MP was asked to buy the Opposition party MPs at whatever cost, he added.

He said the UPA should mend its ways by accepting the demand for a joint committee to draft the Lokpal bill after Anna Hazare’s fast. The country’s reaction to scams coming to light was so tremendous that if anything had happened to Hazare, the government would not have survived.

Therefore, the government readily succumbed and decided to accept whatever Hazare demanded, he said. Advani also warned that the BJP would launch a mass movement if the UPA government imposed restriction on unfurling the national flag in Jammu and Kashmir.

‘Baba predicted my release from jail’

Senior BJP leader L K Advani on Thursday revealed that Sathya Sai Baba had rightly predicted his release from prison during emergency in 1977.

Advani said his wife had visited Sai Baba when she was in Bangalore on January 18, 1977, and Baba told her that he would be released from prison very soon. When she returned, she received a call from the Superintendent of Prison that Advani would be released the same evening. Advani was lodged in Bangalore jail for 19 months during Emergency.
