Mangalore varsitys 29th convocation on April 30

The three will receive their doctorate during the 29th annual convocation ceremony of Mangalore University on April 30 at Mangala Auditorium, Mangala Gangothri.

Speaking with the reporters, Vice Chancellor Prof T C Shivashankara Murthy informed that the three were selected unanimously by the Syndicate of the 12 applications received.
With regard to the Convocation ceremony, the VC said that Karnataka Governor and Mangalore University Chancellor H R Bharadwaj will preside over the programme. Higher Education Minister Dr V S Acharya and Supreme Court Former Chief Justice M N Venkatachalaiah will be the chief guests.

As many as 70 Doctor of Philosophy degrees, 31 gold medals and 63 ranks (PG-44, UG-19) will be awarded on the occasion.

Clarifying about the pending convocation certificates of St Aloysius College (autonomous) students, he said all the students except seven M.Com (Finance and Accountancy) students from St Aloysius College will be given certificates this year. The seven students of 2008-09 batch will not be eligible for receiving convocation as the College has violated the rule while admitting them. But rest of the approximately 3,600 UG and PG students will receive the convocation, he said.

Mangala Auditorium

The newly built Mangala Auditorium in the University premises will be inaugurated on the previous day of the convocation ceremony i.e on April 29. The huge auditorium has been built at a cost of Rs 8 crore. Central Law Minister M Veerappa Moily will inaugurate the building, while Higher Education Minister Dr V S Acharya and Former VC Prof K M Kaveriappa will be the chief guests, said Prof Shivashankara Murthy.
