No vehicle to ply on Sampaje road till May 31

DC tells KRDCL to complete 139 km road repair works at the earliest

The decision was taken by the Deputy Commissioner K H Ashwathnarayana Gowda after taking opinion of the participants, during the meet at Kote Hale on Thursday.

The DC told the Karnataka Road Development Corporation Limited (KRDCL) officials to complete the 139 km road repair works at the earliest.

He said that the Corporation has to complete the half done drain, retaining wall works on the either side of the road and take up patch work from Sudarshan circle-Bhagamandala first cross, Devarakolli-Sampaje road to facilitate smooth flow of traffic.

KRDCL Executive Engineer K M Shivakumar said that the pothole filling work will be completed in a week. Simultaneously the pending works on 139 km will be completed and the utility lines will revived.

Shivkumar said that KRDCL will complete the works at the earliest but during March itself the region received rainfall for 16 days, which has posed impediment for the execution of  the work.

 “We will complete 139 km in one month but the remaining work will be taken up only after monsoon, he said seeking co-operation from district administration and elected representatives.

KSRTC Depot Manager Lachmegowda said that as many as eight buses are plying on Sampaje-Madikeri road. Increasing the number of buses is not feasible.

He said that since number of people coming from Mangalore to Madikeri has increased KSRTC has been operating buses till 8 pm. Superintendent of Police Manjunath Annigeri and Additional DC K M Chandregowda urged KSRTC to run good buses on the route for the convenience of the commuters.
