"I can tell the Nanavati Commission that (about what he has said in the affidavit) and much more because I was privy to much more," Bhatt told reporters here.

"When I approached the Supreme Court with an affidavit, I submitted to the honourable court that I know much more which I can reveal to the court when I am called upon to do so.

"If this commission is interested in finding out the truth and If I am given an opportunity to speak out the truth, then I can come out with all the facts that I know and can recollect at this point of time," he said.

In his affidavit filed in the Supreme Court, Bhatt had alleged that Modi instructed officers during a late night meeting held on February 27, 2002, to allow Hindus "to vent out their anger" during the clashes and he wanted Muslims to be "taught a lesson".

The Nanavati Commission has summoned Bhatt on May 16, following the revelations made by him in the affidavit filed in the apex court recently.

In its summons to Bhatt, the Commission has stated that it would like to elicit information from him regarding the meeting held by Modi on the night of February 27, 2002, at his residence which Bhatt claims to have attended, sources said.

The said information is likely to be useful and relevant for the purpose of inquiry which is being conducted, the Commission stated in the summons, they said.

Bhatt's statement would be recorded in-camera, as it is not a public hearing, an official of the Commission said.
