JD(S) may contest only three seats

The party may indirectly support the Congress in the remaining seats by not fielding its candidates.

Senior JD(S) leaders, who held a meeting at the party chief H D Deve Gowda’s residence in Padmanabhnagar on Saturday, are learnt to have discussed about contesting only in Ramanagara, Channapatna and Kollegal seats, where the party is powerful.

Unanimous opinion

The leaders, sources said, were unanimous in their opinion that by fielding candidates only in places where the party is powerful, it can concentrate better and campaign more vigorously. The party is not likely to field its candidates in Chittapur and Govindrajanagar, to help the Congress.

However, the final decision in this regard will be taken by Gowda, sources said.
