CM takes the lead by pledging eyes

Speaking after inaugurating the event here on Friday, Yeddyurappa commended the students for taking an initiative that would provide eyesight to others.

Noting that fests at engineering colleges provide more prominence to cultural programmes, Yeddyurappa said that he was pleasantly surprised when the students of the college had come to invite him to inaugurate such a unique event.

Appreciating the 1,210 students who had come forward and pledge their eyes, he said that it would act as an inspiration to others to follow suit. Advising youth, he exhorted them to make efforts to root out poverty from the country.

Later, the chief minister flagged-off a walkathon organised to improve awareness among people about the need for pledging eyes.  The walkathon passed through University of Mysore and reached Hunsur Road.

Continuing, they walked on Valmiki Road and culminated the walkathon at Vivekananda Statue in Cheluvamba Park.Suttur Mutt Seer Shivarathri Deshikendra, Medical Education and District In-Charge Minister S A Ramdas, Mayor Pushpalatha T B Chikkanna, Mayor of Lambeth Dr Neeraj Patil,  and others were present on the occasion.

Today’s events

Entertainment quiz will be conducted at 1.30 pm followed by RJ hunt prelims at 2 pm. World Cup Quiz, Chamatkar and Niyojanam will be held at 2.50 pm. Cultural programmes will be conducted between 6 pm and 9 pm.
