'Provide statutory benefits to women'

Speaking at the legal literacy camp in Sharada Garments on Friday, the judge said workers contribute a great deal in the economic progress of the country, but their contribution was not being recognised.

She said garment owners should provide drinking water, regular wages, maternity allowance, separate toilets for women workers. She said cases could be booked against harassment of women at workplaces.

The judge said the Legal Services Authority in the town’s civil court accepts property disputes, property suits and family disputes for arbitration. Lok adalats are being held for speedy disposal of cases.

Senior advocate P V Appaswamy spoke on the rights and duties of labourers and advocate N Manjula delivered a lecture on registration of  births and deaths on the occasion.

Bar Association president H S Madan Mohan, advocates Krishnaveni, Nanjundappa, Chandrashekhar were present.
