Karadi's party swap makes temples rich

Karadi, who was elected on a JD(S) ticket resigned his seat in the Assembly and joined the ruling party on March 3.

Since then the government has released crores of rupees for the development of temples in Karadi’s constituency. The Government has released Rs one crore for the development of temple in Koppal taluk. Further, Rs 31.5 lakh has been released for the development of temples and shrines in other taluks of Koppal district. According to documents available with Deccan herald, by another order released dated March 19, the Rs one crore grant has a number of conditions.

The first condition is that the Deputy Commissioner would grant the funds to each temple. The temples are required to provide accounts for the receipt of the money and expenditure in the documentation inspection register.

The second condition is that out of the Rs one crore, 15 temples in the district would get Rs two lakh each, 20 would  get Rs three lakh each, and three of the temples would receive Rs four lakh each.
