Normal AI service in 4-5 days

The state-run airline will operate just about half of its normal flights – 160 of over 320 flights – on Monday as pilots have started reporting for work since Friday.

The strike was called by Indian Commercial Pilots Association (ICPA),  demanding pay parity with pilots flying international routes. On Friday night the strikers reached an agreement with the government, following which the stir was withdrawn.

The management of AI will have to frame the flying schedules and the pilots undergo the mandatory medical check-ups before getting airborne. More than anything else, passengers will have to come back – AI had stopped bookings owing to the strike. “AI will be restoring over 50 per cent of all flights in the domestic network on Sunday and expects normal operations by Monday. Metros and tier-II cities would be fully connected from Sunday,” AI said in a release.

AI said it operated on Saturday 65 flights from the six major metros as against 40 flights under its contingency schedule.
