5 injured as car falls into drain

Venkatappa (58), Shashi Kumar (18), Venkatarayappa (45), Rohit (3) and Tajunnisa (45), all residents of Kamalanagar were the injured.

According to police, Venkatarayappa, a realtor, his son Shashi Kumar and their driver Venkatappa were travelling in a four-wheeler to visit a site in Kamalanagar.

Venkatappa, who was under the influence of alcohol, switched off the vehicle when it reached a slope abutting a drain, but it gained speed.

He applied brakes when the vehicle was about to reach the drain. But the vehicle turned turtle as he lost control over it. The vehicle knocked down Rohit, who was playing on the roadside and hit Tajunnisa, a flower vendor.

The four-wheeler then fell into the drain, police said.
