Fearing stir, police send away freedom fighter

Ganapathiappa had three days ago said during a protest organised by Janapara Horata Vedike that he would hold a protest by lying beneath Yeddyurappa’s car, if the chief minister does not take immediate steps to distribute homes and sites to the poor in the taluk.

When the freedom fighter was on his way in a car from his native Vadnala to Sagar, the police stopped the car at Gandhinagar Circle.

Even though Ganapathiappa told the police that he was not going to the chief minister’s programme, but the Dalit Sangharsha Samiti office, they forcefully sent him away.

Ganapathiappa said that officials came to his house on Sunday night and told him that he would get an opportunity to put forth his grievances. But on Monday, they behaved differently.

“It amounts to taking away my freedom. Am I a culprit for the police to stop me,” he asked.
