BU proposes Tagore Chair

“I will make a request to the Board to set up a Chair in the name of the greatest poet of our country. The university can provide 50 per cent of the funding and the rest can come from sponsors,” he said.

Dev was addressing members of the Bengalee Association on the occasion of Tagore’s 150th birth anniversary in the City.

Prabhu Dev said that the Tagore Chair could supervise translation of various writings of the poet into Kannada and also promote Tagore’s philosophy and teachings among the students.

He said BU would provide space for and facilitate an exhibition on the life and works of Tagore in collaboration with the Bengalee Association.
