Udupi tops in PU results

Udupi district has excelled as the topper for the second consecutive year in the II PUC examinations in State with overall passing percentage of 87.15. As many as 15,420 students had appeared for the examination, of which 12,081 have passed.

As many as 725 students have secured distinction in the district. About 6,244 have scored first class. And 3,229 students have passed with second class. As many as 3,339 students have failed in the exam. Three colleges have recorded cent per cent results in the district and the colleges are Poorna Prajna College, Udupi, Government Pre University College, Palli and Green Valley Pre University College, Shiroor.

As many as 7,499 boys and 7,921 girls had appeared for the examination. Sanjoth Shetty from Poorna Prajna College has topped the Science discipline in district with 587 marks. He has stood third in the State. Raghuveer Pai from Viveka Pre University College, Kota shared second place with Dheeksha Rao from Poorna Prajna College, Admaru as both scored 580 marks.

In Commerce section, Pooja Bhat from Bhandarkar’s College, Kundapura, has topped with 584 marks. Ullas Kamath from SMS College, Brahmavara and Priyanka Nayak from PPC have secured second and third place respectively.

In Arts discipline, Ayeehsaniha from Kambadakone Government Pre University College stood first with 539 marks. Dheeksha from Government Pre University College, Udupi and Prasanna from Janatha Pre University College Hejmadi secured second and third place respectively.   

Speaking to Deccan Herald, Sanjoth Shetty informed, he never attended any coaching classes or tutorials and his preparations for exams were based on class room teachings.

“My parents supported me in every phase of my life,” he said. He wants to be an IAS officer. However, at present he wants to study engineering in any discipline at NITK, Surathkal, he added. He had scored 96.5% in SSLC. He is an alumni of Jawahar Navodaya School. His father Sunil Kumar Shetty is a lawyer and mother Jyothi Shetty is a housewife.
