Gang of six dacoits rob youth of ` 80,000

After a brief lull, dacoits have struck again robbing a youth of ` 80,000 cash on Bannur Road on the outskirts, on Wednesday night.

Nagendra, aged 30, son of Shivappa, Bhugatagalli is the victim. He is working as an unit manager with a nationalised bank here.

Nagendra was returning home on his two-wheeler after borrowing the said cash from his friend Rajegowda.

He met Rajegowda at a designated spot near Jayalakshmipuram, and wrapped the wad of notes in a cover, before keeping the same inside the space beneath the seat.

A two-wheeler stopped Nagendra near Veerabhadreshwara Farm on the road. Soon, the stranger was joined by five others who came in an autorickshaw.

The rider threatened Nagendra to part with cash, only to be denied by latter.

The gang tied both his hands and legs with a rope, besides gagging his mouth with a cotton waste.

They later dumped him in a road side pit, before dumping his two-wheeler at the spot. They escaped with cash. Strangely, the dacoits didn’t harm Nagendra, as claimed by the latter in a complaint to Nazarbad Police on Thursday. He somehow freed himself and informed his family members over  his cellphone.

They later took him to a hospital.

Nazarbad Police have registered a dacoity case.
