CPI leader passes away

He complained of chest pain at about 3.30 am and was rushed to the hospital immediately but all efforts to save him went in vain.

Bashu is referred to with respect for his attempts and struggle to shape better future and living conditions for labourers. He had served as CPI District Secretary from 1977 to 1980.
He had taken up indefinite hunger strike for the cause of Chandagodu Dalits in 1980 and met success as their demand were fulfiled.

Congress District President M L Murthy, Leaders M C Shivananda Swamy, Gurushanthappa from Raitha Sangha, BSP leader Radha Krishna, Basavaraj, BJP Leader Niranjan and others paid their last tribute to Bashu.

A condolence meet was held at CPI office and the party flag was half lowered.
