JOIN USMagadi Road police said Nanda Kumar died as he had consumed a disinfectant used to clean toilets and not because of the treatment meted out to him by the public.
Nanda Kumar barged into the house of Jagadish, a cloth merchant, in KP Agrahara near Anjan Theatre, and demanded sweets from Sahana and her younger sister Sushma, as Sahana had cleared the SSLC examinations. He lost his temper when the girls did not entertain him. He smashed their television set and attacked them.
Sahana sustained injuries on her neck, while Sushma suffered minor injuries.
The sisters were rescued by neighbours when they ran out crying for help. The neighbours then thrashed Kumar before handing him over to the police.
The parents of the girls were away when the incident took place.
