Lightning; nine hurt in Hassan district

On Sunday, rains accompanied with thunderbolt and lightning struck the village. Five persons, Ganesh (35), Jinendra (26), Shivanna (30), Jagadish (45) and Ganesh (25) who were returning home after working in fields, took shelter under the tree only to be struck by lightning. Police have registered a case.

In Sakleshpur, four persons were injured as lightning struck them at Karadigala village near Hetthur in the taluk on Sunday night. The injured are Shashikala, Susheela, Bindu and Sunanda.

Rural Police visited the spot.

One dies in mishap

One person died on thw spot when a mini-lorry hit the two-wheeler which he was riding near Ursu Nagar of Ballupet on Bangalore-Mangalore National Highway in Sakleshpur on Monday.

The deceased has been identified as Suresh (35) of Salagame village of Hassan taluk. He was coming from Hassan to Sakleshpur when the mini-lorry coming from the opposite direction hit the two-wheeler.

Police visited the spot. A case has been registered.

Sand laden trucks seized

A team of police led by Rural Police Sub-Inspector Puttaswamy seized six trucks which were transporting sand illegally.

On a tip off, they carried out the operation at Amajikatte village of the taluk and seized trucks. The police submitted a detailed report to Tahsildhar to take further action.

Woman dies in a mishap

A woman died on the spot when a speeding bike hit her near Rudrakshipura gate in the Maddur taluk  on Saturday night. Sannamma(55), wife of Appaji, a resident of Rudrakshipura is the deceased. The mishap occurred when she was crossing the road.

Maddur Police have registered a case.
