JOIN USThe Gift of Love has been written and sung about. It isn’t just a feeling, although it can produce emotions ranging from profound joy to deep sorrow.
It’s sought by almost every person on earth, the greatest gift any one can receive. The Holy Bible tells that It was created out of God’s own deep love for each of us, we are called to reflect that loving heart to all. In that way, human love mirrors God’s endless, unconditional, compassionate love.
Love is Patient; Love is Kind. A spirit of love gives birth to kind gestures and patient understanding toward others. Author, Leo Buscaglia, said it right, “Only when we give joyfully, without hesitation or thought of gain, can we truly know what love means”
Love... Rejoices in the Truth. Genuine love welcomes, embraces and strives for the truth in all we do.
Love... Hopes All Things. Love moves us to treat each relationship and to approach each person with a hope-filled outlook, despite our past experiences. Hope moves us to trust in God’s love and live assured of God’s presence.
Love... Endures All Things. To love God demands that we love one another in all circumstances, no matter how difficult. And when others let us down, we need to extend the same loving forgiveness that Love Never Ends. As we look to God for help, for strength, for renewal, especially in difficult times, we try to replicate that perfect, eternal love in our own lives, while celebrating the promise of God’s eternal love for each of us.
Let me propose a few Open-Hearted Strategies. Consider these ways to ensure that love lifts up your life:
List the names of family and close friends. Keep track of their needs, dreams and interests. Try calling or e-mailing at least one person a day.
Each day, pray for all the people in your life who love you and whom you love.
End your prayer time remembering someone who, in that moment, is in need of God’s love.
In the evening of our lives, we shall be judged on love.
