According to Jayaram, of Veerangere, his wife Sheela (28) succumbed to injuries, when the motorcycle they were travelling on, skidded on Shivaji Road in N R Mohalla around 3.30 pm.
A software engineer at Infosys, Bangalore, Jayaram had married Sheela of Palahalli in neighbouring Srirangapatna taluk six years ago. The couple has two children.

The two had been to the marriage of Jayaram’s relative, at a choultry on Shivaji Road. The mishap occurred when they were returning home at Veerangere. Jayaram who escaped with minor injuries, rushed his wife to Mission Hospital, but in vain.

When the news of her death reached Sheela’s relatives, they alleged that it was a case of murder. Substantiating their allegation, they said that the couple had fought over dowry harassment in the past and had almost separated. It was only due to the intervention of elders,  they had buried their differences.

However, according to police, it’s a clear case of accidental death as the lady has suffered head injuries akin to the wound suffered in accidents.

When the last reports came in, the relatives of both the sides were still arguing over the nature of death. The cops led by N R Police Inspector K N Yeshwanth Kumar had camped on the premises of the hospital.
