Illegal transportation of liquor; two arrested

On a tip off, the police arrested Manjegowda aka Puttaswamy and K V Vairamudigowda near Sathigarahalli in Hassan taluk. A case has been registered in Gorur Police Station.

Gold ornaments stolen

Thieves have stolen gold and silver ornaments worth ` 20,000 after break opening a house at Guddenahalli village in Hassan taluk on Wednesday night.

Jayakumar of the village is the person who lost the gold and silver ornaments. He was out of station when the incident occurred.

The incident came to light when he  returned home after attending a marriage function of his relatives. Pension Mohalla Police have registered a case.

Pedestrian hurt

A pedestrian was seriously injured when he was knocked down by a speeding car while crossing the road at T M Hosur gate in Srirangapatna taluk on Wednesday night.
Siddaraju son of Chikkarajaiah, native of P Hosahalli village of the taluk is the deceased.

His left hand and left leg was fractured and he had received serious head injury. Police arrested the car driver and released him on bail. Town Police have registered a case.

Four held

Srirangapatna Police caught four persons red-handed when they were allegedly gambling at M Shettihalli village on Wednesday night.

The accused were playing cards near Government School in the village. The police recovered  `  5710 in cash and a bike which was placed as stakes for gambling.  They were released on bail. Town Police have registered a case.

Homemaker dies

A homemaker died on the spot in a head on collision that occurred between a van and bike near ITI College on Mysore-Nilgiri road in Gundlupet town on Thursday.

Gangamma (28), wife of Shivanagappa is the deceased. She fell down from the bike when her husband was riding and a Maruti Omni Van them from behind resulting in her fatal fall.

Shivanagapppa was injured and was admitted to General Hospital.

He and his wife were travelling to town to attend a function when the mishap occurred. A case has been registered and investigations are on.

Liquor sale opposed

The residents of T Narasipur towSn alleged the sale of liquor in early morning by wine shop owners.

Normal life, peace and tranquillity in the town is affected owing to this, they claimed.
They alleged negligence on part of the officials of excise department and others in taluk administration to stop this despite several complaints filed by them.

They threatened to launch an agitation if their demands are not met within few days.
