She was diagnosed of tumour in the right lobe of the liver and was told that the treatment is not available in Goa. Hence she approached Kasturba Hospital where the surgical team including HoD of Paediatric Surgery Dr Vijay Kumar, Dr Santosh Prabhu, Dr Sundeep P T and Dr Zeeshan performed a surgery.

The case was complicated as the tumour was arising out of the right of the liver and the size was very large. Entire right half of the liver was removed with tumour. Because of the large size of the tumour, the removal was really challenging.

The patient will take about 2 months to recover fully from the surgery and can lead a normal life afterwards informed Dr Vijay Kumar in the release. This is because liver has the property to regenerate itself. Surgical removal of liver tumours offers the best chance of long-term survival for patients, the release stated.
